June 13th and 20th Field Trip Announcements Minimize

Field Trip:  Phil Fraley Studios
Friday, June 13th.

NJPS is pleased to be going back to Phil Fraley Studios at  1PM Friday June 13.The address is 270 Marshall St., Paterson. Pictures are allowed!

We have visited Phil's studios twice in the past and both trips has been fantastic. They build museum exhibits and we are given a tour of the current project. There is always something going on and the staff is always very accommodating. This is a chance to see fossils up close and see how exhibits are built. Please use the internet to get directions and plan a few extra minutes for problems that may arise so that you are there on time.

This trip is only open to NJPS members.

Field Trip: Beltzville State Park - Pennsylvania
Friday, June 20th.

Ron Mroz will lead a trip to collect Trilobites and associated material. Beltsville State Park is about 2 hours from Paramus.

We will meet at the rest stop on Rte 80 just after you cross into PA. Follow the signs just after paying the toll. We will meet there at 9AM. From there we will carpool or caravan one hour to the site. You should bring hard rock equipment and safety glasses.

This trip is open to all NJPS members, for further details please refer to the May 2008 Paleontograph.

Our field trips are usually local in nature, visiting various New Jersey fossil collecting sites, but from time to time we have arranged some longer out-of-state trips to places such as:

  • Auroura, North Carolina
  • The cretaceous of Kansas
  • Wyoming, Green River Formation
  • Florida, Peace River

Please browse our photos of some past field trips below. If you would like to lead or propose a field trip location, please feel free to contact us.
